In a galaxy far, far away, an unprecedented era of peace is on the horizon. Alien civilizations, once sworn enemies, are coming together to negotiate a historic peace treaty. You are ambassadors of your respective worlds, chosen to represent your people. But there's a twist: each civilization speaks a unique and complex language, understood only by its own kind. To forge this treaty, you'll need to find a way to communicate using only the symbols provided. Diplomacy, empathy, and ingenuity will be your tools in this cosmic challenge.

  • Participants are split into groups, each representing a different alien civilization. Each civilization has its own language (a set of symbols given to them). The task is to negotiate a peace treaty using only their assigned symbols to communicate. It will take real effort, understanding, and leadership to make it happen.

  • This exercise highlights the crucial role of clear and effective communication, especially in complex situations. It metaphorically represents the potential for misunderstandings and miscommunications in a diverse corporate environment and the need for clear, concise, and inclusive communication.

  • Participants debrief on communication barriers faced and effective strategies used during the simulation. They discuss how to apply these strategies to improve communication within their teams and across departments or cultural barriers.

Your team has chartered the renowned vessel, the S.S. Vanguard, for a unique expedition across uncharted waters. As the handpicked crew, you've prepared for challenges and uncertainties, yet the adventure ahead will test your mettle in ways you never anticipated. A sudden and fierce storm emerges from the horizon, battering the ship and leaving you stranded on a mysterious deserted island. Far from civilization and without the aid of modern technology, your leadership, strategy, and teamwork skills will be put to the ultimate test as you work to survive and escape this unexpected predicament. The decisions you make could mean the difference between triumph and despair.

  • The simulation involves participants being "stranded" on a deserted island after a shipwreck. The goal is to survive and ultimately escape from the island. Participants will be assigned roles such as captain, builder, scavenger, etc., each with unique responsibilities. The experience requires the group to strategize, allocate resources, and make decisions based on different scenarios and crises presented by the facilitator.

  • The shipwreck scenario can metaphorically represent a company facing a crisis or market change. The leaders' actions will determine the team's survival (success of the project/company). This experience will help participants realize the importance of decisive leadership, strategic thinking, resource allocation, and adaptability to change.

  • Participants will reflect on their roles and discuss how effective leadership techniques in the simulation can be applied in a corporate setting, including crisis management, strategic decision making, and role assignment. This leadership and communication course is fast paced like the real world, with consequences to decisions.
